Square Pie Guys sits right in the heart of Old Oakland, an area that’s perfect for wandering and grazing across different shops and food spots. Inside, the vibe is casual but energetic with an open kitchen lets you watch the pizzas come to life, while a blazing blue neon sign highlights their signature square slices. There’s a steady flow of locals grabbing their boxes to go, mixed with small parties dining in. The space inside feels compact, the outside seating helps, but this location is not built for big groups. Parties larger than five or six will probably feel squeezed. It works perfectly, though, for grabbing a couple of slices with a few friends or a relaxed date night. The staff clearly care about what they are doing. They are friendly, attentive, and genuinely knowledgeable about the menu. Even during busy stretches, while constantly pulling pies from the oven and managing orders, they stay patient and helpful. It feels like a team that enjoys the craft, not just the job. The salads are reliably excellent: fresh ingredients, made to order, bright and satisfying. Don’t come expecting standard sodas from a fountain or domestics on tap. I like how they focus on local beers

This was our first time here. Great pizza and great cheesy bread. The staff was super friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back before we leave for home.

I’ve always been a deep dish type of gal. I can’t help myself, I like my pizza thick. Definitely liked my service tonight. The same guy that rang me up was the one who brought my food over, which was sweet. He was also the one to get a to-go box for my pizza and container for the leftover salad. The follow-through was peak. It was nice. Glad I don’t have to go far for good pizza. I’ve already converted a few of my coworkers to Square Pie guys & gals.

Didn’t get to try the pizza but snacks and beer I had were great. Didn’t interest with staff too much but overall a good impression on service. Love all the natural lighting and color. Seems welcoming and fun.

I had been wanting to try Square Pie Guys for years. My wife and I had the day off together and we ended up in Emeryville for some errands. I decided that we should come and try Detroit style pizza. Street parking was easy to find right out front. We opted to sit outside because it was a nice day in Oakland, but it was like 1pm on a Monday so the streets and shop were pretty dead. The inside of the shop was also a little warm and stuffy from the pizza oven. After looking over the menu I decided to order the spicy pepperoni and my wife got the ultimate plant with dairy free cheese - see photos. I also got an order of the Szechuan chicken wings - not pictured - and my wife got the chilled bowled salad - also not pictured. First off the wings were dried fried style and has the crispiest exterior. The seasoning was a mix of salt, white pepper, and sugar; very reminiscent of Wingstop's fries with the sweet and salty combo. The cilantro lime crema dip that comes with the wings is also fantastic. Although I feel the crema is better with veggie sticks as it overpowers the wings when eaten together. By far the best wings I've ever had at a pizza place. Highly recommend. The salad was del
